One of the topics that needs to be touched on when discussing Lear (or Leer) Jets is that of fractional ownership. Fractional ownership (in anything be it condominiums, jets, or summer rental property) can be a complicated process. Given the complexity and legalities of this form of shared ownership, it is best to consult with a lawyer who is familiar with the process and capable of guiding you through the wickets that exist.

From a thirty-thousand foot perspective, fractional jet ownership is similar to any other commodity you purchase a fraction of. As with a timeshare, you contract for a certain amount of time wherein the jet is available for your use. I have read that some of the companies providing this service will ensure, through the use of other assets, that a jet is available for you when you need it…as long as it is within the parameters of your contract. There is certainly a cost benefit that is realized through the use of fractional Lear Jet ownership, with some prices being as low as $8,000 for 50 hours per year. It is this cost efficiency that makes this a viable alternative for many individuals who would otherwise not be able to afford the outright purchase of a Lear Jet.

We hope this information has helped. If you have anything you would like to the discussion, please leave a comment and we will be sure to respond.

Thanks, and have fun flying!

LearJets have a long and varied history. From their humble beginnings as a fighter jet prototype, to their widely accepted role as the preferred method of transportation for the wealthy, this jet has seen it all. The leer jet began its run as a Swiss ground attack fighter prototype. After a very short duration it became apparent that the design of the plane was not well suited to the original purpose of providing air combat support.

Eventually the design was purchased by Bill Lear, the tooling plant equipment was relocated to Wichita, Kansas, and the Lear Jet was born. The original LearJet 23 held six to eight passengers, and the product line has continued to grow in complexity and features since that time.

Within the pages of this site we will explore the various models of the LearJet (Leer Jet) , its varied uses, options for ownership and use (such as fractional rental), and a whole host of other topics. Please feel free to add any additional information you may have, as our intent is to make this site as useful as possible.

Happy Flying!
